

Handique Girls' College is one of the oldest and most esteemed institutions for women's higher education in Assam and Northeast India. Founded by Rajabala Das, the first woman graduate of Assam, the college was initially known as Guwahati Girls' College. In 1940, it was renamed in honor of philanthropist Radhakanta Handique, who contributed significantly to its establishment.
