This lateral entry program is designed to be completed over three years. The first year of the course is considered as an extension of the diploma or equivalent qualification, while the remaining two years are focused on advanced engineering concepts, research, and practical applications.

Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech. (CSE) [Lateral Entry] Program at LPU

The eligibility criteria for admission into the B.Tech. (CSE) lateral entry program at LPU are as follows:

1. Diploma (Engineering): Candidates who have completed a 3-year Diploma in Engineering (in any stream) after 10th grade or a 2-year Diploma after 10+2 (Non-Medical stream) are eligible to apply. The minimum required aggregate marks for eligibility is 60% in the Diploma.

2. B.Sc. (Non-Medical): Candidates who have completed a B.Sc. (Non-Medical) or B.Sc. (Computer Science) are also eligible, provided they have a minimum of 60% aggregate marks.

3. BCA or Equivalent: Candidates with a Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) degree or an equivalent qualification can also apply, with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks.

4. LPUNEST: Candidates must qualify for the LPUNEST (Lovely Professional University National Entrance and Scholarship Test), which is required for admission to the course. The LPUNEST can be taken online or at designated test centers, and it is recommended to opt for the online, remotely proctored exam from home.

5. Relaxation for Specific Groups: Candidates from North-East states, Sikkim, Defence Personnel, and their dependents or wards of Kashmiri migrants can avail a 5% relaxation in the eligibility criteria.

Special Notes:

• Students from non-CSE/IT backgrounds may need to take additional courses in the first and second terms of the program to bridge the knowledge gap. These extra courses are aimed at fulfilling the prerequisites for advanced courses in the later stages of the B.Tech. program.
