Burdwan Raj College, Burdwan was established in the year 1881.The college is one of the premier and oldest colleges.  It was one of the very first college of the state of West Bengal and not only the district of Burdwan.The campus is spread accross 13 acres and is situated at the centre of the town. It is adjacent to the Railway Station, Medical College and Hospital and the main University of Burdwan. The college carries a long association with the Maharajas of Burdwan, namely, Tej Chand, Mahatab Chand and Aftab Chand. The royal patronage was taken over by the Govt. of West Bengal in 1956 under the sponsoring scheme and the College was affiliated to the University of Burdwan in 1960. The College is recognized as one of the excellent academic institution. The growth and overall development of the college is quite remarkable. The serene beauty of Shyamsayar adds grandeur to the College.

Burdwan Raj College Hostel Details:

Burdwan college facilities include a separate hostel for both girls and boys.

1. The college has a four-storeyed building as a hostel for girl students. 
2.  Girls' hostel can accomodate 100 students.
3. The entire buiding has many spacious rooms with marble floors.
4.  The boarders must follow the rules and regulations as set by the College.
5. The college also has a hostel for boys. At present, there are two hostels for male students.
6. The boarders are given various other facilities on the basis of merit.
7.  The two boys' hostel can accomodate about 70 students each.
