Cooch Behar College, Cooch Behar affiliated to the University Of North Bengal was established on 16th November 1970 at the end of Cooch Behar town with a campus area of 3.74 acres. The college got its recognition under 2f of UGC Act on 16-05-1980. Located at the fringe of Cooch Behar town, the college is housed in two imposing two-storied buildings and a single-storied building with a sprawling green playground in the middle of the campus. The college was established in 1970 at the time of the Bangladesh War when one of the primary objectives of the organizers was to accommodate the victims of the Bangladesh War as the district is situated on the border of Bangladesh and Assam. Therefore, the college had the objective to expand the facility of higher education for the people living in the remote areas of the district and the adjoining areas. This was very much in tune with the national policy to spread the facility to every nook and corner of the nation. Since its inception, the college has been running Arts and Commerce courses with the subject option of B.A. Honours in Philosophy and B.A. General in History, Political Science, Economics, Bengali and English and B.Com. Honors and General. Subsequently, the college has broadened the scope of mission statement to enhance the capacity of the masses and make them part of national development.
