Gobardanga Hindu College, a government-sponsored co-educational degree college, is affiliated with West Bengal State University, Barasat, North 24 Parganas. Established on November 27, 1947, the college has grown through significant historical, political, and cultural events. Its foundation was supported by academics from Daulatpur College (now in Khulna, Bangladesh, formerly part of undivided Bengal’s Jessore district) and the Mukherjee family, who donated part of the land for the college.
Initially offering only a few subjects, the college now provides courses in 23 subjects across Arts, Science, and Commerce streams. It also offers postgraduate programs in Bengali, Education, and History, benefiting many students. Additionally, the college has a B.Ed section on its extensive campus.
Gobardanga Hindu College has been accredited with an “A” grade by NAAC in 2005 and 2016. It is also a recipient of funding under the RUSA scheme by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

Admission process for UG Courses (2023-24)
- Eligibility:
- Must have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent with English as a subject (minimum 100 full marks).
- Admission allowed within 3 years of passing the qualifying exam.
- Application Process:
- Admission is online and merit-based.
- Candidates must register on the college website before filling out the application form.
- Required details: Mobile number, Blood group, HS Registration & Roll No., and a scanned passport-size photo (100 KB).
- After successful registration, an Application Number and Password (DOB in DD/MM/YYYY) will be generated for future use.
- Candidates select their preferred subjects during the application process.

- 50% aggregate and 45% in the subject (or 55% in the subject if aggregate is less).

Additionally, all students who achieve first-class marks in Honours, General, Post-Graduation, or B.Ed. university exams are awarded a yearly scholarship of ₹2,000.
