

The College was founded by the D.A.V. College Managing Committee on July 26, 1948, in memory of Mahatma Hansraj. It is a constituent college of Delhi University. It has secured a place in the top 10 colleges in India for offering courses in Commerce, Science, and Arts. It provides modern infrastructure facilities like library, auditorium, science labs, hostel, etc. Under the aegis of the Star College Scheme, the college has received special grants. The College provides a number of Scholarships and Freeships. It also provided its premises ATM and Banking facilities through a branch of Canara Bank. The College also has a Placement Cell for providing employment opportunities to graduating students through campus recruitment in the best national and international organizations. Hans Raj College was ranked 12th in the college category by NIRF ranking in 2024.
The College offers educational services at 4 different levels: 1st, regular teaching at undergraduate level is carried out from Monday to Saturday; 2nd, afternoon classes for part-time courses in foreign languages named German, French and Spanish; 3rd, classes for students registered with the Non-collegiate Women Education Board on Saturdays. And 4th, classes for underprivileged school children from the neighborhood from 2 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. on working days. Admission to the college is based on merit and cutoffs.

Hansraj College Facilities
HRC is equipped with many infrastructural facilities like a central library, departmental library, laboratories, etc. The college has Central Library, Departmental Library for Science and Book Bank. The libraries have a rich collection of 1,35,000+ titles and about 98 periodicals published in India and abroad. The College has 6 Computer Labs and 18 Science laboratories. The college Auditorium has a sitting capacity of 500 persons and an imposing stage. The college has a boys hostel with the capacity to accommodate 200 boys. Hansraj College Eligibility Criteria
Students who scored good grades in their HSC and SSC examinations from a recognized board are eligible to take admission in HRC. For admission, students should be eligible according to the eligibility criteria defined by them. Foreign language classes are held in the afternoon. Hansraj College Admissions
Eligible candidates can apply on the website. Admissions are based on eligibility and merit. Application forms for Certificate/Diploma/Advanced Diploma program will be available at the College Office. Students have to timely check the website for cut off list on the Delhi University website. Below is the process to follow to take admission to the college:
- The students have to register on the college website.
- After registration, the admission form needs to be filled with scanned documents.
- The Delhi University will release cut-off lists for students.
- If the name appears on the cut-off list, students can take admission and submit the fees.
- If the name does not appear then the student can wait for another cut-off list.
- Admission to the college is only considered after the submission of fees.
