Himachal Institute of Dental Sciences

Established in 2003 under the Dr. Puran Chand Medical Charitable Trust, the Himachal Institute of Dental Sciences (HIDS) is a premier private dental college located in Paonta Sahib, Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh. The institute is affiliated with Atal Medical & Research University and recognized by the Dental Council of India (DCI) and the Government of India.

Eligibility Criteria

BDS: Candidates must have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English, securing at least 50% marks (40% for SC/ST/OBC categories). NEET-UG qualification is mandatory.

MDS: Applicants should possess a BDS degree from a recognized institution, have permanent registration with the DCI or any State Dental Council, and must have completed a one-year compulsory rotating internship.

Admission Process:

1. Qualify NEET-UG (for BDS) or NEET-MDS (for MDS)

2. Participate in Himachal Pradesh NEET counseling conducted by Atal Medical & Research University

3. Complete seat allotment, document verification, and fee payment

Fee Structure (Approximate)

• BDS: INR 2,50,000 per year; Total: INR 10,00,000 including hostel

• MDS: Approximately INR 9,98,000 for the full course

Placements and Career Opportunities

While campus placements are limited in dental colleges, HIDS offers internship opportunities and career guidance. Graduates often enter private practice, pursue postgraduate studies, or join hospitals and dental clinics. Alumni have also been placed in pharmaceutical companies such as Mankind, Sun Pharma, Tirupati, and Zeon.
