• JEE Main 2025 Session 1 registration is now open for the IIT Dhanbad BTech, BArch, and BPlan courses. The deadline to apply is November 22, 2024. The JEE Main 2025 Session 1 exam is set for January 22 to 31, 2025.
• The JEE Advanced 2025 official website has been updated with the revised eligibility criteria. According to the official website, applicants can now attempt the JEE Advanced 2025 exam up to three times in three consecutive years. The JEE Advanced 2025 application form for the BTech course will be available in April 2025.
• IIT JAM 2025 for M.Sc admission to IIT Dhanbad will be conducted on February 02, 2025. Candidates can make changes to the application form through jam2025.iitd.ac.in, till November 18, 2025, and the admit card is expected to be out in the first week of January 2025.
• IIT JAM 2025 is scheduled for February 02, 2025, for admission to the M.Sc program at IIT Dhanbad. Any changes in the application form can be done till November 18, 2024, and the admit card is expected to be released in early January 2025. Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad was established in 1926. The school once held the name Indian School of Mines & Applied Geology, encompassing the fields of mining and applied geology. The name was renamed as the Indian School of Mines (ISM) in 1957. IIT Dhanbad is placed 35th overall, 22nd in research, 15th in engineering, and 46th in management categories in the NIRF rankings 2024.

In 1956, the University Grants Commission granted the institute University status. Later, many engineering and applied courses were added, and the institute now has full-fledged technical programs like B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc.Tech, and MBA. After 90 years, in 2016, the Indian School of Mines (ISM) was awarded the tag India Institute of Technology (IIT). IIT (ISM) Dhanbad Eligibility Criteria

• The candidate should pass their 10 2 in the PCM stream with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.

MBA Eligibility Criteria

• The candidate should have a Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of three years from a recognized board.
• The candidates should have a valid CAT score.

PhD Eligibility Criteria

• Master’s degree 70% and above aggregate.

• Graduate degree with 60% or above aggregate.

IIT(ISM) has a campus of 393 acres with facilities like seminar halls, auditoriums, laboratories, workshops, a central library, hangout spots, cafeterias, sports facilities, grounds, a swimming pool, hostels, etc. 

Central Library:

The central library of IIT Dhanbad is a big 7-storied, air-conditioned building. The library uses LIBBSYS integrated library management software. A campus-wide LAN connection enables staff and students to access E-resources in the library. A Research Documentation Cell has been set up by the library based on the research outputs. The library opens from 9:30 am to 9 pm on all working days and to facilitate the resident students the reading room on the 7th floor is open till 12 am. A cafeteria is there on the ground floor that provides several kinds of fast foods and beverages.

Cafeterias:

There are so many cafeterias all around the campus to facilitate students and staff in different parts of the campus. The main canteen is an epicenter for most of the student activities and is one of the oldest canteens in the campus. The canteen provides food, snacks, and beverages, apart from this main canteen houses a juice center, fruit counter, and a stationery shop. Ram Dhani (RD) tea shop is the oldest cafe in the campus with a typical ordinary tea shop outlook. The RD tea is one of the top common topics of IIT (ISM) students. The Amul canteen is an alternative to the main canteen that serves good food and also has a stationary and photocopy shop. Apart from these, there are many other cafeterias on different parts of campus like the cafeteria on the ground floor of the central library building.

Hangout spots

There are a lot of hangout spots on the campus apart from the canteens and cafeterias. There are a lot of gardens and parks on the campus for students to relax and chill. Eco Vatika is a park with few trees, chairs, and a narrow stream, located near the Ruby (girls) hostel. This is a popular chilling spot for girls. The Rock garden located near the college entrance is another hangout area to take rest after the long walks inside the campus. Another hangout area is the Oval Garden in front of the heritage building. It is a beautiful garden with lots of flowering plants and sculptures made out of plants. In February an annual flower show is conducted to showcase the variety of flowers and plants in the garden which were present even during the Mughal Empire. Another attraction of this garden is a 2.5 million-year-old tree fossil that is placed in the center of the garden.

Hostels

Indian Institute of Technology Dhanbad has 12 hostel buildings, 7 for boys, 4 for girls, and 1 for international students. More than 8000 students are accommodated in these hostels. Every hostel has spacious twin-sharing rooms.
