

Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (JNKVV), also known as Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University, is a leading public agricultural university located in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. It was established on October 2, 1964, and named after India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. The university operates with the motto "Praninam prandda krishi", meaning “Agriculture is the life force of living beings.”

JNKVV has made substantial contributions to Indian agriculture, having developed over 300 varieties of 79 crops. It is especially noted for innovations in soybean and chickpea. The university is also India’s largest producer of breeder seed across 90 varieties of 23 crops. Through its Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), JNKVV actively promotes extension services and farmer training.
Campus and Infrastructure
The main campus of JNKVV is located approximately 7 km from Jabalpur city on National Highway 7. Spread over 1,554 hectares, the campus features modern classrooms, laboratories, libraries, hostels, research farms, and field laboratories. It is a vibrant hub for innovation and experimentation in agriculture.
