The National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR), located in Vasco da Gama, South Goa, is India's premier institution dedicated to polar and ocean research. Ph.D. Program

Eligibility:

  • First-class M.Sc./M.Tech. (≥60%) in Marine Sciences, Oceanography, Atmospheric Sciences, Geology, Geophysics, Earth Sciences, Meteorology, Physics, Mathematics, or related fields.

  • Must have qualified NET-JRF (CSIR/UGC/DBT/DST) or have a provisional INSPIRE Ph.D. fellowship.

  • Age limit is 28 years (relaxation as per Government norms).

Post-Doctoral Program

Eligibility:

  • Ph.D. in Science or Engineering aligned with NCPOR’s research focus.

  • Candidates awaiting final Ph.D. award are also eligible.

  • Should have independent funding or fellowship.

  • First-class (≥60%) in Bachelor's and Master’s degrees.

Application Process:

  • Submit online application with a research proposal developed in consultation with an NCPOR scientist.

Internship & Dissertation Programs

Eligibility:

  • Final-year students of B.Sc./B.E./BCA/B.Tech.

  • M.Sc./M.E./MCA/M.Tech./M.A. students.

  • 3rd year onward for 5-year integrated programs.

  • Final-year M.Sc. students can apply within the same year of completion.

Duration: 3 to 12 months
Application Windows: Summer (Jan 15–Feb 28), Winter (Sep 15–Oct 30)

  • Submit a CV and recommendation letter from the Head of Department.

  • Secure consent from an NCPOR scientist prior to application.

Research & Facilities
