About NID Ahmedabad

Founded in 1961, NID Ahmedabad is a public, autonomous institute declared an Institution of National Importance under the NID Act of 2014. It offers full-time programs in B.Des, M.Des and Ph.D across over 20 design specializations. The flagship B.Des and M.Des programs admit around 128 and 126 students per year respectively

  • From 2017–18 to 2020–21, highest packages ranged ₹48 LPA → ₹35 LPA; lowest ₹14 LPA → ₹4 LPA. Placement percentage dropped from ~96% to ~73% 

  • B.Des and M.Des students become eligible to apply in enhanced regimes from 5th and 8th semesters respectively, preparing portfolios and resumes via dedicated placement cell support

Set on an urban campus in Paldi, NID features specialized labs and design studios—physical computing, animation, ceramics, film & video, textiles, photography, printing, computing, and prototyping.
