Shyama Prasad Mukherji College for Women was established in 1969.  When established the college offered only six courses with a strength of 500 students. Now college offers many courses under UG and PG programs on 18 disciplines to a strength of 3000+ students. SPM Delhi is one of the few colleges of University of Delhi to offer B.Ed courses.

SPM College library has a rich collection of around 77000 books including yearbooks, encyclopaedias, dictionaries, atlases, general knowledge books, fictions, autobiographies and biographies. The library is housed in a 3floored building with facilities like seating capacity of 150 students, separate reading room for faculty, book bank for economically poor students, braille section for blind students, information centre and Wi-Fi availability.

SPM College has a great IT infrastructure that facilitates internet connectivity all over the campus and providing WAN connection with the University of Delhi and LAN connection across all the departments and separate LAN connection within the departments.

Shyama Prasad MukherjiCollege for Women has a medical room with a qualified physician and nurse. Regular medical checkups are done once every year and the reports are sent to the parents or guardians. 

SPM College has a spacious air-conditioned auditorium named as Rajiv Gandhi Auditorium with a seating capacity of 1100 people. Auditorium is the hosting place for programs like seminars, conferences, presentations, cultural programs like college fest and youth festivals. Apart from the auditorium, there is an audiovisual room with a seating capacity of 75 people, for conducting workshops and seminars. The AV room is equipped with an LCD projector and screen for presentations.

Students at SPM College spent their leisure time at the recreational hut and gazebo on the campus or in the common room, which has recreational equipment and adequate furniture. 

Students also spend time at the canteen in the campus. Canteen has a seating capacity for more than 100 students. The college canteen offers beverages and nutritious and wholesome meals at subsidised rates. The kitchen and dining area is clean and hygiene. 

Other facilities at SPM College includes a bookstall and a bank with ATM facility. There is a branch of Indian Overseas Bank in the campus with ATM facility for the convenience of students and staff.
