SPA Bhopal

The School of Planning and Architecture, Bhopal (SPA Bhopal), was established in 2008 by the Government of India as an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Education. It is one of the three Schools of Planning and Architecture in India, recognized as Institutes of National Importance, alongside SPA Delhi and SPA Vijayawada.

Situated on a sprawling 75-acre campus in Bhauri, Bhopal, SPA Bhopal is dedicated to producing top architects and planners who can address the challenges of physical and socio-environmental development of global standards. The institution strives for social sustenance through universal design, cultural sustenance through conservation, and environmental sustenance through Architecture, Planning, and Design disciplines.

Academic Programs

Undergraduate Programs

• Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch): A comprehensive five-year program integrating studio-based design projects with theoretical knowledge, preparing students for various careers in architecture.

• Bachelor of Planning (B.Plan): A four-year program focusing on urban and regional planning, equipping students with skills to plan and manage human settlements.

Postgraduate Programs

• Master of Architecture (M.Arch): Specializations include Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, and Architectural Conservation, providing advanced knowledge in these fields.

• Master of Planning (M.Plan): Specializations include Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Planning, and Transport Planning and Logistics Management, addressing urban and regional development complexities.

• Master of Design (M.Des): A program focusing on design principles and practices, preparing students for careers in various design disciplines.

Doctoral Program (Ph.D.)

The Ph.D. program encourages independent and interdisciplinary research on issues related to settlements and habitat development. It provides a strong theoretical and applied research environment to develop innovative solutions.

Admissions

Undergraduate Admissions

Admission to B.Arch and B.Plan programs is based on the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main followed by counseling.

Postgraduate Admissions

Admission to M.Arch and M.Plan programs is based on GATE or CEED scores, followed by the SPA Design Aptitude Test and interview.

Doctoral Admissions

Ph.D. admissions require qualifications such as JRF/NET (UGC), GATE, CEED, or any national entrance test recognized by the Government of India, along with an Institute scholarship.
