Sri Venkateswara College

Sri Venkateswara College was started in 1961 by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), Tirupati, an autonomous organisation that manages 12 temples and their sub-shrines, and runs charitable and educational institutions all over India. Started off in a school building and later moved into the present college building in 1971, with an initial objective to provide educational needs to students hailing from southern states living in Delhi. Over the years the college outgrew its regional character and started serving students from all parts of India and is now one of the desired colleges in Delhi.

Sri Venkateswara College is affiliated to the University of Delhi and provides courses on Science, Humanities and Commerce disciplines. The 15-acre campus provides facilities like good classrooms, laboratories, library, hostel, canteen, sports department, medical and banking facilities and many clubs and societies for students’ activities. The Sri Venkateswara College is ranked 21st among colleges in India by NIRF Ranking 2024.

The BioInformatics Centre(BIC) in Sri Venkateswara College is the first BioInformatics Centre established in University of Delhi and North India to cater the computational and bioinformatics needs of students, scholars and teachers of various department of the college. 

The canteen of Sri Venkateswara College Delhioffers delicious and healthy foods and snacks from all parts of India with a special reputation for the south Indian foods. The canteen acts as the epicentre for all the extracurricular activities. 

Sri Venkateswara College also provides facilities like medical room and banking facilities. There is a branch of Andhra Bank in the campus for the ease of banking for the students and staff. The medical room with the availability of a trained nurse for an emergency situation. The College also provides facilities for the differently-abled students by providing ramps, rails and special toilets to suit their needs.

Sri Venkateswara College Hostel:

Sri Venkateswara College provides hostel facilities for both boys and girls inside the campus. The boys’ hostel is named as Sri Balaji Boys’ Hostel and girls’ hostel is named as Sri Padmavati Girls’s hostel. Both hostels provide accommodation for 72 students each. Admission to the hostel is purely based on merit and only those students who are not from Delhi NCR could seek admission in the hostel. All the rooms provided to the students are double seated. Every room is furnished with lights, fan, wardrobe, chair, table and bed. There are 4 common washroom and toilets on each floor. All bathrooms have electric and solar water heaters. There is a separate dining hall for boys and girls. The mess provides breakfast, lunch and dinner and is managed by a contractual agency. Hostel has separate air-conditioned reading and common rooms for boys and girls. The common rooms have facilities for indoor games like table tennis, chess, caroms, and television is also provided. Students could use the college ground for playing cricket, basketball, football etc. Hostel provides medical care to the students either at the college medical room or at the nearby health centre. The hostel also provides round the clock security service along with CCTV surveillance and a locker facility to keep the students’ valuable items.
