Uttaranchal University offers a variety of scholarships and fee concessions to support academically strong, financially weaker, and deserving students across undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional programs.

Scholarships are generally applied to tuition fee, and students usually can avail only one main scholarship at a time (the best one applicable).

1. Merit‑Based Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded based on the student’s performance in the qualifying examination (Class 12 for UG, graduation for PG):

2. Uttarakhand State Domicile Scholarship

  • Eligible students who hold a valid Uttarakhand domicile certificate receive a 26% waiver on tuition fees.

  • A significant percentage of seats (around 40%) are reserved for Uttarakhand domicile students across programs.

  • This is generally applicable for the entire duration of the program (subject to conditions).

3. Hill States Domicile Scholarship

Students from designated hill states (e.g., Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Sikkim, Nagaland, Assam, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh, and specific districts in West Bengal) receive:

  • 26% scholarship on tuition fees for the entire duration of study.

4. Sushila Devi Scholarship for Girls

Female students are eligible for:

  • 5% scholarship on net tuition fees for the duration of the program.

  • This applies uniformly to both Uttarakhand and all‑India category female students.

5. Scholarship for Wards of Defence Personnel

Students whose parents are serving, retired, or deceased defence and paramilitary personnel (e.g., ITBP, CRPF, etc.) receive:

  • 5% scholarship on net tuition fees for the entire course duration.

  • Valid certificate proofs are required at admission.

6. Alumni Scholarship

Students who are alumni of Uttaranchal University and are enrolling in a new program receive:

  • 10% scholarship on net tuition fees for the first year only.

  • Proof of previous degree from the university is required.

7. Sibling Scholarship

If a sibling is already studying at the university, the new student can avail:

  • 10% scholarship on net tuition fees for the first year only.

  • Appropriate documentation showing the sibling relationship must be provided.

General Conditions for Scholarships

  • Students can choose only one scholarship out of the available options at the time of admission.

  • Scholarship benefits are usually adjusted in tuition fees and may not cover hostel or other charges unless specifically mentioned.

  • Students must submit authentic supporting documents for eligibility (marksheets, domicile, defence certificates, etc.).

  • Scholarship offers may not be interchangeable once chosen for admission.

Scholarships at Uttaranchal University apply to a wide range of programs, including but not limited to:

How to Apply for Scholarships (2026)

  1. Apply for admission in the chosen program.

  2. During the admission process, select the scholarship type you wish to apply for.

  3. Upload or submit relevant supporting documents: mark sheets, domicile certificate, defence certificates, sibling/alumni proof, etc.

  4. After application, the scholarship committee reviews submitted documents.

  5. Scholarship benefits are then reflected in your tuition fee statement once approved.

Important Notes

  • Most scholarships are valid for the entire program if the related conditions (like domicile or defence eligibility) remain unchanged.

  • Merit scholarships may be limited to the first year only unless otherwise specified.
