Age Limit for SSC CHSL Eligibility 2026

  • The general age limit for SSC CHSL 2026 is 18 to 27 years as of the key date, usually January 1, 2026, as mentioned in the official notification.

  • Candidates born between January 2, 1999, and January 1, 2008 are eligible under the unreserved category.

  • This age limit applies uniformly to all posts unless candidates are claiming age relaxation.

SSC CHSL Eligibilty: Age Relaxation


Candidates from reserved categories are allowed age extensions beyond the upper limit of 27 years:

  • SC/ST: 5 years (maximum age 32 years)

  • OBC: 3 years (maximum age 30 years)

  • PwBD (Unreserved): 10 years (maximum age 37 years)

  • PwBD (OBC): 13 years (maximum age 40 years)

  • PwBD (SC/ST): 15 years (maximum age 42 years)

  • Ex-servicemen: 3 years after deducting military service from actual age

  • Other eligible groups such as widows or children of deceased defense personnel may receive relaxation up to 35 years, as per official notification.

Educational Qualifications for SSC CHSL Eligibilty 

  • For most posts like LDC/JSA, candidates must have passed 12th Standard (Class 12) or an equivalent qualification from a recognized board by the crucial date.

  • For DEO posts in C&AG and certain ministries, candidates must have completed 12th Standard in the Science stream with Mathematics.

  • Candidates who are appearing in the final exams can apply provisionally but must provide proof of passing by the cutoff date.

Nationality Requirements for SSC CHSL Eligibilty 

  • Candidates must be Indian citizens.

  • Subjects of Nepal or Bhutan are eligible.

  • Tibetan refugees who settled in India before January 1, 1962, are eligible.

  • Persons of Indian origin from specified countries can apply.

  • Non-citizens must have a government-issued eligibility certificate.

SSC CHSL Eligibilty 2026: Disability Criteria 

  • PwBD candidates are eligible under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, with a minimum of 40% disability.

  • Suitable disability categories for posts include:

    • LDC/JSA: Low Vision or Blind, Deaf or Hard of Hearing, One or Both Arms or Legs affected, Cerebral Palsy, and similar conditions.

SSC CHSL Eligibilty 2026: Ex-Servicemen Criteria

  • Ex-servicemen (ESM) include those discharged after completing normal service or who are disabled/invalided.

  • They are eligible for an age relaxation of 3 years after deducting military service period.

  • ESM candidates are given priority during the selection process.

  • Required to submit service discharge certificates and clear post-specific skill tests.
