Bholanath College

Bhola Nath College (BNC), Dhubri, is a premier institution of higher education in Western Assam, India. Established on August 16, 1946, through the efforts of local visionaries and the generous donation from the Lakhipur Estate Zamindar family of Late Bhola Nath Choudhury, the college has been a cornerstone of academic excellence in the region. Affiliated with Gauhati University, BNC was granted autonomous status by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in July 2024, following its A+ grade accreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) .

Academic Programs

BNC offers a diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs across Arts, Science, Commerce, and Vocational streams. Undergraduate courses include B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., B.Voc. (Information Technology), and B.C.A., while postgraduate offerings comprise M.A. in Assamese and M.Sc. in Chemistry . The college also provides Higher Secondary (10+2) education under the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) .

Campus and Facilities

Situated on an 18-acre urban campus in Dhubri, BNC boasts extensive facilities to support academic and extracurricular activities. The campus includes well-equipped science laboratories, a central library with over 47,250 volumes and digital resources, separate hostels for boys and girls, a health center, gymnasium, and a canteen . The college also houses the B.N. College Cricket Academy, established to train students and local youth in cricket.

In 2023, BNC achieved an A+ grade from NAAC, reflecting its commitment to quality education . The college's autonomous status, granted in 2024, empowers it to design curricula, conduct examinations, and manage academic affairs independently, aligning with the UGC's regulations for autonomous colleges.

BNC has produced several distinguished alumni who have contributed significantly to society. Among them are Abdul Hamid, a three-time Lok Sabha Member of Parliament, and Adv. Aminul Islam, current MLA of the 21 Mankachar Constituency and General Secretary (Org) & Chief Spokesperson of AIUDF .
