The College of Fisheries, situated in Ludhiana, Punjab, is a constituent college of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU). It was established in April 2008 to address the growing demand for qualified fisheries professionals in the region

Vision and Mandate

• Develop skilled human resources and technical expertise for the fisheries sector.
• Conduct foundational, applied, and adaptive research to increase fish production sustainably.

• Transfer technologies to farmers, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders through training and field outreach

Placement outcomes reflect strong career growth:

• Near‑100% placement through GADVASU’s placement cell; average salary ~₹3.25 LPA for UG & PG 
• UG placements: ~80% of students employed in fisheries roles
• Recruiters include Nestlé India, Godrej Agro‑Vet, Venkateshwara Hatcheries, Punjab Meats, banks, and NABARD 
• Graduates secure roles as Fisheries Officers, ATMs, research fellows, scientists; many pursue higher studies or relocate abroad (Canada, USA, Australia) 

Student and Faculty Profile

Since establishment, the college has matured 15+ faculty members and over 200 students enrolled in UG, PG, and doctoral programmes. Faculty includes experienced researchers and advisors adept at guiding fieldwork, lab study, thesis projects, and ICAR‑NET exam preparation .

Facilities and Field Experience

The college is equipped with advanced labs, fish farms, extension centers, and smart classrooms . A mandatory experiential learning sequence includes industrial internships, rural fisheries work and educational tours in final year UG. Training and outreach are also conducted via Krishi Vigyan Kendras in adjoining districts.
