Dhemaji College

Established on August 1, 1965, Dhemaji College stands as the oldest and premier institution of higher learning in Dhemaji district, Assam. Affiliated with Dibrugarh University, the college offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Arts and Science streams. Recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), the college is committed to providing quality education and fostering holistic development among students.

Academic Programs

Undergraduate Programs

• Bachelor of Arts (BA): With 300 seats, the BA program offers major (honours) courses in subjects such as Assamese, Economics, Education, English, History, Philosophy, Political Science, and Sociology.

• Bachelor of Science (B.Sc): With 120 seats, the B.Sc program provides major courses in Botany, Chemistry, Computer Science and Application, Electronics, Mathematics, Physics, and Zoology.

• Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA): An upcoming program aimed at providing students with a strong foundation in computer applications.

Postgraduate Diploma Programs

• PG Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA): A 40-seat program designed to enhance students' skills in computer applications.

• PG Diploma in Plant Tissue Culture: A specialized program focusing on plant biotechnology.

Campus and Infrastructure

Dhemaji College is situated on a sprawling 9.809-acre campus equipped with modern facilities to support academic and extracurricular activities. The college has been conferred the status of College with Potential for Excellence (CPE) by the UGC in 2010. Under the Rastriya Uchattar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), the college has received substantial funding for infrastructure development, including the construction of laboratory buildings, digital classrooms, and sports facilities. The campus also features hostels for both boys and girls, a well-equipped library, computer labs, a gymnasium, and a cafeteria.
