Government Medical College, Patiala

Government Medical College/Rajindra Hospital [GMCP] was established in 1953 by Maharaja Yadvinder Singh. It was the first Medical College in Patiala and is affiliated with Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot. The college is approved by the Medical Council of India [MCI]. The admissions are provided in the field of MBBS, M.Sc., B.Sc., Nursing, and Pharmacy. 

GMC Patiala campus is equipped with a hostel,1000+ beds for people, labs, and classrooms. The college also works a State T.B. Training and Demonstration Centre for the State of Punjab and U.T. The current intake of the college is 225 students from MBBS and 144 Postgraduates.

GMC Patiala Admission

GMC Patiala admission 2022 is in process. To apply for admission candidates have to visit the official website of the institute and the admission link is available on the 'About Us' page. Shortlisted candidates will be called for a Personal Interview. The college considers NEET UG, NEET PG, and NEET SS  Entrance Exams for admission to various UG, PG, and diploma courses.

GMC Patiala Eligibility Criteria

GMC Patiala has set certain eligibility standards to be fulfilled by the candidates in order to get admission in various courses. Some courses with their eligibility criteria are mentioned below

M.B.B.S Eligibility Criteria

• Passed the 10+2 level examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics or any other elective subjects with English with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
• The candidates must have a valid score in NEET UG.

M.D/M.S. Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates must have passed M.B.B.S from a recognized university.

Initially, GMC Patiala had an intake of 50 students for MBBS, but it currently has a strength of 225 students for MBBS. In addition, the college offers courses in medical sciences, nursing, pharmacy, and paramedical sciences. The college also has a dental college, a nursing college, a hospital, and a T.B Hospital as a part of its infrastructure.

GMC Patiala cutoff for 2022 is yet to be released. Since the admission is on the basis of NEET UG scores the cutoff is based on rank or scores in the same. In 2021, the cutoff for the unreserved category was 720-138, for SC/ST/OBC it was 137-108.
