Government Mohindra College

Government Mohindra College, Patiala was established in 1875, with intermediate classes starting in 1880 and first undergraduate course starting in 1887. The college was started to provide free education to the young people of the region. The free education is still continuing for girl students up to graduation. Initially, Government Mohindra College was affiliated to University of Calcutta, and when undergraduate programs were introduced the college was affiliated to Punjab University. 

Government Mohindra College courses include Diploma, PG Diploma, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate programs. University Grants Commission has selected Govt. Mohindra College as Community College under Community College Scheme. The college offers 2 courses under the community college.

Government Mohindra College has a library with a collection of around 1 lakh books. The library holds a number of rare manuscripts. The library is divided into 3 sections, general section, textbook section and a periodical section. The general section consists of books of all category, the textbook section has books based on subject category for references and the periodicals section has the periodicals, magazines, journals and newspapers. Apart from the main library, there are respective departmental libraries.
