Jogamaya Devi College

The Jogamaya Devi College was established by Shyamaprasad Mukherjee in 1932. It started functioning as the women's section of Asutosh College during the morning hours. In 1957, the college got affiliated to Calcutta University hence becoming a separate establishment known as Asutosh College for Women. In 1958, it was renamed as Jogamaya Devi College.

The college started functioning with just 155 students. Presently, it has more than 4000 students pursuing their education here. It offers a variety of facilities to its students and faculties. It supports sports activities.  Each student who enrolls in the campus is provided an accident insurance cover of minimum INR 20,000. It has a students' Union which is responsible for organizing various activities in the college.

The Directorate of Distance Education, Vidyasagar University started a PG Study Centre at the college in 2008. It offers M.Com and M.Sc courses in various disciplines. The college offers various undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Science, Commerce, and Arts. The Jogamaya Devi College admission is purely based on merit.

The NSS wing of the college organizes various activities and 7-day camps to address various social issues. It conducts awareness programmes on diseases like breast cancer, HIV, thalassemia, etc. It also conducts blood donation and literacy camps.

The NCC wing also conducts various activities. It conducts the B & C certificate courses. The cadets regularly participate in Sthal Sena Camp held every year in New Delhi and the Republic Day Parade.
