Joya Gogoi College, Golaghat

Joya Gogoi College, located in Khumtai, Golaghat, Assam, was established on November 25, 1991, by the esteemed scholar and former Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker, Late Jiba Kanta Gogoi, in memory of his mother, Late Joya Gogoi. Affiliated with Dibrugarh University and recognized under sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act, the college has evolved from a modest Arts institution into a comprehensive degree college offering both Arts and Science streams.

Academic Programs

Joya Gogoi College offers undergraduate programs in Arts and Science. The Arts stream includes majors in Assamese, Political Science, History, Education, Economics, and English. The Science stream offers majors in Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Mathematics, and Botany. The college also has postgraduate departments in Assamese, Political Science, and Education under Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU).

Admission Procedure

Admissions are primarily merit-based, following Dibrugarh University's guidelines. For Higher Secondary courses, applicants must have passed the HSLC examination conducted by SEBA or an equivalent board. For undergraduate programs, candidates should have completed their Higher Secondary education in the relevant stream. Reservations are available for SC/ST/OBC and other categories as per government norms.

• Library: The Capt. Jintu Gogoi, Vir Chakra Library houses over 8,961 books, 15 journals/periodicals, and provides services like newspaper clippings, reprography, and counseling.

• Girls' Hostel: A newly constructed two-storeyed RCC hostel accommodates 18 students, offering furnished rooms, pure drinking water, clean sanitation, and audio-visual facilities.
