The National Power Training Institute, Durgapur has been set up by the Government of India under the Ministry of Power to run as the National Apex Body for Human Resources Development of Indian Power Sector. Durgapur is one of the nine Regional Institutes of NPTI authorised in 1968. The Corporate Office of NPTI is established at NPTI Complex and other regional institutes placed at Neyveli (Tamilnadu), Badarpur (New Delhi), Nagpur (Maharashtra), Guwahati (Assam), Nangal (Punjab), Faridabad (Haryana) and Bengaluru (Karnataka).

NPTI’s institutes are fully outfitted with the newest state-of-the-art-training foundation and also skilful faculty with hard years of trained and pedagogy experience with satisfactory research and development exposure. These Institutes are carrying a number of training programs for Power Engineers, Operators and Technicians in the areas of Thermal and Hydro Power Generation, Transmission & Distribution System and other related areas.

The fee structure for all the courses are given below:

  • The course fee for B.Tech is INR 56,000/- per annum.
  • The PDC course fee is INR 110,000/- per annum.
  • PGDC course fee is INR 110,000/- per annum.

National Power Training Institute Eligibility Criteria:

Since the institute is exclusively for thermal power plants, only a handful of groups can apply for PDC and PGDC. Students need to verify their group before applying for admission to the college. The eligibility criteria for both courses are mentioned below:

  • This program is for students with three years of full-time Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering.

  • This program is open for  B.Tech/B.E. or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical/Instrumentation selected through Common Entrance Test (CET).

Admission is done through the Common Entrance Test. All admissions are done on a merit basis. As for the notification of the exam, students need to check if the advertisement appears in leading National Newspapers/Employment News in the month of March/April. 

 

National Power Training Institute Hostel Details:

Hostels are accessible at NPTI to accommodate about 400 trainees. Those willing to avail the NPTI Facilities will have to inform management in advance to obtain confirmation. In case a student does not stay in the hostel, he has to make his own arrangements to reach the Institute. The hostel service is provided to the trainees only for the period of training course. The facilities provided by the hostel are mentioned below:

  • Canteen facilities are also available in the Hostels.
  • Recreation and indoor sports facilities like Table Tennis, Badminton, Carom, Chess etc. are available for trainees in Hostel.
