Regional Institute of Education, Bhubaneswar was established in 1961. The institute is a constituent unit of National Council of Educational Research and Training [NCERT], New Delhi.  Regional College, Bhubaneswar is an autonomous organization registered under Societies Registration Act [Act XXI of 1860] to advise and assist the Ministry of Human Resource Development [MHRD], Govt. of India and Departments of Education in States and Union Territories in formulation and implementation of their policies and programmes in the field of Education. NCERT assists the academic and technical support for the improvement of School Education through its constituent units.

RIE offers various specializations in undergraduate and postgraduate through its courses. RIE, Bhubaneswar admission is online-based. The college is equipped with all infrastructure facilities including Computer Application Centre and Video-conferencing Hall. RIE offers innovative Pre-service Professional Training Programmes to prepare School Teachers and Teacher Educators of Elementary Training Institutes. The Institute is actively engaged in In-service Teacher Education Programmes catering to the needs of Eastern states and the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. RIE also provides expertise for programs organized by the states under its jurisdiction and other educational agencies like SCERTs, DIETs, SIEMAT, DPEP, SSA.

The Institute is also engaged in teaching, research, training, development, extension, dissemination, monitoring and evaluation through a variety of pre-service/ in-service programs and tasks given to it by NCERT from time to time.

RIE, Bhubaneswar has the central library housed with more than 69,000 books, 1000 Bound volumes of Periodicals, Serial publications, 300 Reports, 580 Dissertations, 100 Maps, Atlases and some other non-book materials. the library is subscribed to more than 77 Journals/Periodicals. Every year an average of 550 new books were being added to the college library. The library has its set of rules and regulations to be followed.

The library offers an Open Access System and Online Public Access Catalogue [OPAC] is also available. The college library is being computerized and automation of all its operations. On the Public Access Catalogue of the library has a database of books, periodicals and others. RIE College library offers services like Reprographic, CAS, SDI, Documentation and Circulation services.

Computer Application Center:

RIE, Bhubaneswar provides Computer Application Center [CAC] that can be accessed by students, faculties and employees. CAC includes two laboratories with server room and storeroom along with the Head & In-charge's chamber. CAC contains hundreds of PCs and laptops with essential software and internet with Wi-Fi facility.CAC has its set of rules and regulations to be followed. The center provides services like Open Access System, Internet facility, Computer assistance, Printing & scanning, and Information to the users.

CPWD Electrical:

The Central Public Works Department(CPWD) of RIE, institution and is the principal agency of the Government of India responsible for creating assets and providing comprehensive services including planning, designing, construction and maintenance of office and residential buildings as well as other infrastructures of RIE. CPWD maintains the latest technological trends and green buildings.

Regional Institute of Education Admissions:

The applicants are required to check the college official website for the admission procedure in the Regional Institute of Education. The candidate must go through the application portal carefully and check the requirements including eligibility criteria, fee structure, and other requirements. RIE provides a unique student login ID for every student who registers through the website. The college receives application only through online. 

RIE, Bhubaneswar conducts the councilling for eligible students who have met the eligibility criteria. The college has a special faculty to look after the admission section. RIE includes a State Bank Of India [SBI] inside the campus area to facilitate students for the payment. RIE conducts an entrance exam for the students seeking admission in MPhil in education. The admission is based on the marks secured in the qualifying examination & entrance test.
