The Indira Gandhi Technological and Medical Sciences University

Indira Gandhi Technological and Medical Sciences University (IGTAMSU) is a state private university situated in Ziro, the district headquarters of Lower Subansiri in Arunachal Pradesh, India. Established under the Indira Gandhi Technological and Medical Sciences University Act 2012 (Act 6 of 2012), the university is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is ISO 9001:2015 certified.

History and Establishment

The inception of IGTAMSU dates back to 2002, when Dr. Priya Ranjan Trivedi, President of the World Institution Building Programme (WIBP), was inspired by then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to establish a university catering to the tertiary education needs of the North-Eastern states, particularly Arunachal Pradesh. After a decade of planning and development, the university was officially established in 2012 through legislation passed by the Arunachal Pradesh State Assembly.
