TMBU

Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University (TMBU), formerly known as Bhagalpur University, is a prominent public institution located in Bhagalpur, Bihar, India. Established on July 12, 1960, it was renamed in 1991 to honor Tilka Majhi, a tribal freedom fighter who led one of the earliest revolts against British colonial rule in India . The university spans a 264-acre urban campus and is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Academic Structure

TMBU comprises six faculties: Science, Social Science, Humanities, Commerce, Management Studies, and Law . It offers a diverse range of programs, including undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and doctoral courses. Notably, the university provides 34 postgraduate courses and has established five research centers:

• Centre of Bioinformatics

• Centre for Regional Studies

TMBU's jurisdiction covers the districts of Bhagalpur and Banka, encompassing:

• 12 Constituent Colleges

• Over 30 Affiliated Colleges, including 14 B.Ed. colleges.

Prominent constituent colleges include T.N.B. College, Bhagalpur National College, and Marwari College.

Admissions to undergraduate programs are based on the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), while postgraduate and doctoral programs require university-level entrance examinations. The university offers a wide array of courses across various disciplines, such as BA, B.Sc, B.Com, MA, M.Sc, M.Com, B.Ed, MBA, LLB, and Ph.D.
