WBUHS - The West Bengal University of Health Sciences

WBUHS, or the West Bengal University of Health Sciences, was established in the year 2003 and offers courses in the fields of medicine, a homoeopathic system of medicine, an ayurvedic system of medicine, Unani system of medicine, nursing education, pharmacy education, dental education, education on laboratory technology, physiotherapy, speech therapy and education on other paramedical courses. The JEPMAS registration window has reopened for select courses. 

WBUHS offers admission to medical courses based on WBJEE, JEMAS, NEET-UG, and NEET-PG. The university fosters and develops an intellectual climate conducive to pursuing scholarship and excellence, either independently or jointly with other centres of excellence of higher learning. WBUHS has over 100 affiliated colleges that conduct various other courses in medicine.

WBUHS offers various UG and PG courses under different departments. The university has a total of seven departments. The different departments offered by the university are provided below.

WBUHS Admission

WBUHS provides many medical courses such as MBBS, MD, MS, BMLT and Diploma. Admission to the courses shall be made based on competitive examinations like NEET and the entrance exams conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board. The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate and post-doctoral courses, including the PhD programme in modern system of medicine, homoeopathic system of medicine, an ayurvedic system of medicine, Unani system of medicine, nursing education, pharmacy education, dental education, physiotherapy, speech therapy and education on other paramedical courses.
To secure admission at any college affiliated with the University, The candidates must first download the application form issued by the university.

• The University will notify students regarding the entrance examination dates.
• All students must write the entrance examination to seek admission
• The result of the entrance test will be made available on the official website
• A merit list is released, comprising the names of all the candidates who have qualified for the entrance examination

WBUHS Eligibility Criteria

WBUHS follows structured criteria for admission into its various programs. Students are required to clear the eligibility criteria to get admission to the colleges. Below are the eligibility criteria for some of the courses offered by the university.

MBBS Eligibility Criteria

• Candidate must complete the age of 17 Years on or before December 31 of the year of admission to the MBBS course.
• HSC / (+2) or equivalent qualification with English, physics, chemistry and biology/botany & zoology with minimum marks as per MCI norms
• Eligible NEET (UG) score as prescribed by MCI.

BDS Eligibility Criteria

• Candidate must complete the age of 17 Years on or before December 31 of the Year of admission to the BDS course.
• HSC / (+2) or equivalent qualification with English, physics, chemistry and biology/botany & zoology with minimum marks as per DCI norms.
• Eligible NEET (UG) score as prescribed by MCI.

MS Eligibility Criteria

• Pass in MBBS or its equivalent degree recognized by the Medical Council of India

WBUHS has released the 2022 results for the semester examinations of the diploma, BDS, BHMS, UG and PG programs on their official website. The result is calculated, including the marks of two theory exams, an internal assessment, an oral, and a practical exam. Any candidate failing a paper can take the supplementary exam held by the university three months after the result announcement.
