Abhayapuri College, Bongaigaon

Abhayapuri College is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in lower Assam. Established through the collective efforts of local visionaries, the college aims to provide quality education to students from rural and economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

The college is named after Ranee Abhayeswari, the Queen of the Bijni Raj Estate, and is situated in a picturesque town known as "Devadaru Nagaree" due to the presence of Deodar trees lining its roads.

Academic Programs

Higher Secondary (HS) Courses:

• Arts Stream: English (Compulsory), M.I.L. (Assamese/Alternative English), Environmental Studies (Compulsory), Economics, Political Science, History, Education, Logic & Philosophy, Arabic, Advance Assamese, Geography, Swadesh Adhyayan, Mathematics.

• Science Stream: English and Environmental Studies (Compulsory), MIL/Alternative English, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology.
  Eligibility: HSLC or Equivalent
  Duration: Two years (1+1)
  Seats: 150 (Arts), 60 (Science)
  

Undergraduate (UG) Courses:

• Bachelor of Arts (BA): Honours and Regular in English, Economics, Political Science.

• Bachelor of Science (B.Sc): Honours and Regular in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology.

• Vocational Courses: Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc.) in Information Technology (IT), Tourism and Travel Management (TTM), Retail Management and IT.

• Diploma/Advance Diploma: Accounts & Financial Services under UGC Community College Scheme.

• Distance Education: Under KKHSOU and IDOL, Gauhati University.

• Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA): Regular mode under Gauhati University.
  

Admission Process

Admissions are based on merit:

• HS Level: Selection is strictly on merit for admission into Arts and Science streams.

• UG Level: For Honours courses, candidates must have at least 50% marks in HS Examination and at least 45% marks in the subject opted for Honours.
  Note: Candidates may opt for a second preference if not selected for the first.
