Vallurupalli Nageswara Rao Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology was established in 1995 by the Vignana Jyothi Society. And the Society was formed in the year 1990 as a non-profit organization. The college is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education [AICTE], New Delhi, and Andhra Pradesh.

University Grant Commission [UGC] granted an autonomous college status for ten years from 2018-19 to 2017-28. The college is accreditated by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council [NAAC] with an 'A' Grade. The VNR VJIET Admission will be based on the AP EAMCET score and offers 9 UG and 13 PG courses in Engineering.

The institute is an autonomous institute granted by UGC for ten years. The college was established for the contribution towards society through education. The Vignana Jyothi Society founded the institute. Given below are some of the essential details about the institute:

VNR VJIET Civil Engineering

The dept of civil engineering is a broad area of engineering. It deals with planning, designing, construction and maintenance of different forms of buildings, roads, bridges, canals, dams, water supply, treatment systems, etc. The present intake of students is 120. The dept offers PG courses in Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, & Highway Engineering. The dept has separate laboratories for UG and PG students. The lab facilities are provided in areas like Structural Engineering, Transport Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydraulics, etc.

VNR VJIET Information Technology

The dept was established in 1997 and had an intake capacity of 180 students. It has all the infrastructural facilities that are required to impart high-quality education. It has well qualified and well-experienced faculty members. The dept conducts seminars, workshops, and technical symposia. The students are formed as the best professional software to meet the demand of the industry.

The institute has the most active student body that conducts various technical and extra-curricular activities. There are various societies that conduct various activities for the students:

• ISTE Student chapter is one of the institutional members that conduct various regular activities like quiz competition, C programming contests, workshops, technical paper presentations, guest lectures, exhibitions, seminars, hackathon and coding events, etc students are nominated for various national/international awards.
• IEEE under the dept of Electronics and Computer Engineering conducts activities like seminars, workshops, technical symposia, certification courses, guest lectures to keep students updated with the latest improvements in technology.
• ACM, the Association of Computing Machinery, the world's largest educational and scientific society connects and convenes the researchers, educators, professionals to allocate resources, inspire discourse, and address the challenges of the fields.
• Instrument Society of India, organize a Republic Day Parade "Salute" where they organize orientation day session for the 1st year students, conducts a guest lecture on a walk through -IoT, VICASA- initiative for the campaign against substance abuse, etc.
• Computer Society of India is a platform where the students display their skills. CSI conducts many innovative and interactive events and aims to improve the soft skills of the students.
• IETE is another society under the dept of Electronics and Computer Engineering, it focuses on the advancement of Science & Technology of Electronics, Telecommunication & IT. It conducts technical meetings, conferences, symposia, and exhibitions all over India.
• SAE promotes excellence in engineering and encourages the students to apply their knowledge to the practical world.
• Association of Mechanical Engineering, the Institution of Engineers and Civil Engineering Association, ICI, & IGBC are the other society that conducts industry visit, technical seminars, etc for the growth of the students.
• Sintillashunz is a cultural fest of the institute that organizes events like Cultural Day, Annual Day, Ethnic Day, Sports Day. These celebrations are organized in the KS auditorium that is followed by Dance, Music, Singing, etc.
• The National Service Scheme organizes events like NSS Day Celebration, Blood Donation Camp, visit NGO and the NSS runs Mega Health Camp, career guidance, etc.
• VNR's extension activities are Swatch Bharat, Nutrition and Hygiene, rainwater harvesting, medical camp, career guidance, blood donation camps, a donation to the flood-hit areas, anti-drug campaign, adult and child education, etc.
• The IQAC committee includes all the stakeholders of the institute and also includes the library, sports, students hostel, examination & evaluation, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, etc. The committee creates a quality culture.
