Assam Women's University (AWU), established in 2013 by the Government of Assam through the Assam Women's University Act, 2013 (XXII of 2013), is the first women's university in the state. Located in Jorhat, Assam, AWU is a public institution recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956.

Admission to these programs is based on the Assam Women's University Entrance Test (AWUET), followed by counseling sessions.
