​Bineswar Brahma Engineering College (BBEC) is a premier public engineering institution located in Kokrajhar, Assam. Established in 2008 by the Government of Assam, BBEC is named after Bineswar Brahma, a revered Bodo community leader and former president of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha . The college commenced academic operations in 2010 and is affiliated with the Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU), Guwahati.

Academic Programs

BBEC offers four-year Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) programs in the following disciplines:

  • Electrical Engineering

  • Mechanical Engineering

Each program has an annual intake capacity of 60 students, totaling 240 seats across all departments.

Admission Process

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidates must be Indian citizens and permanent residents of Assam.

  • For regular entry: Completion of Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, securing a minimum aggregate of 50% (45% for SC and 40% for ST candidates).

  • For lateral entry: Completion of a 3-year Polytechnic Diploma in the relevant branch from the state of Assam, with similar aggregate requirements.​

Selection Procedure:

  • Regular admissions are based on the Combined Entrance Examination (CEE) conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Assam.

  • Lateral entry admissions are through the Joint Lateral Entrance Examination (JLEE) conducted by the same authority.

BBEC's campus, situated approximately 5 km from Kokrajhar town in Chandrapara village, offers a range of facilities:

  • Hostels: A boys' hostel with a capacity of 200 students, providing mess facilities, TV, drinking water, power backup, and sports amenities.

Training & Placement

The Training & Placement Office (TPO) at BBEC, established in 2022, aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry. It facilitates internships, industrial training, and campus placements. The TPO also organizes workshops, industrial tours, and career guidance sessions to prepare students for professional challenges .​
