Bodoland University

Bodoland University (BU), established in 2009 under the Bodoland University Act, is a prominent state university located in Kokrajhar, Assam. It was formed by upgrading the Kokrajhar campus of Gauhati University to a full-fledged state university, aiming to cater to the educational needs of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) and Lower Assam.

Academic Programs

BU offers a wide array of programs across various levels:​

• Undergraduate (UG): BA, BSc, BCom, BBA, BCA, B.Ed .

• Postgraduate (PG): MA, MSc, MCom, MBA, MCA, M.Ed .

• Diploma & Certificate Courses: Including Diploma in Bamboo Technology and PG Diploma in Human Rights Education .

• Doctoral Programs: PhD across various disciplines.

The university comprises 17 departments under faculties such as Science & Technology, Social Sciences, Commerce & Management, and Languages.

Admission Process

Admissions are primarily based on entrance examinations conducted by the university. However, for certain programs, national-level test scores are also considered

• MBA: Candidates with 75 percentile or above in CAT, XAT, MAT, or ATMA are exempted from the university's entrance test .

• Other PG Programs: Admission is based on BU's entrance tests and academic performance .​

Reservations are in place as per government norms, with 80% of seats reserved for candidates from affiliated colleges within the BTAD areas.

BU's campus is equipped with modern facilities to support academic and extracurricular activities:

• Library: Padmashri Modaram Brahma Central Library with over 12,000 books .

• Hostels: Separate accommodations for boys and girls .

Placement Support

The university has a dedicated Placement Cell that facilitates campus recruitment drives and provides training to students. Prominent recruiters include Mahindra, Airtel, Byju's, Reliance, and ONGC .​
