Kokrajhar Government College

Kokrajhar Government College, established in 1959 in Assam, has been a cornerstone of higher education in the region. In 2024, it was elevated to university status, becoming Kokrajhar University, following the Governor of Assam's assent to the Kokrajhar University Act, 2024. This upgrade aims to enhance the quality of education and bolster research and development in key subjects.

Academic Programs

Kokrajhar University offers a diverse range of programs:

• Higher Secondary (HS): Two-year courses in Arts and Science.

• Undergraduate (UG): Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) with honors in subjects like Assamese, Bodo, Bengali, English, Philosophy, Political Science, Geography, Sociology, History, Hindi, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Biology, Computer Science, and Statistics.

• Postgraduate (PG): Master of Arts (M.A.) in English and Bodo; Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Mathematics and Chemistry. Plans are underway to introduce PG courses in Political Science and Physics.

• Certificate Courses: Various short-term programs to enhance specific skills.

• IGNOU Study Centre: Established in 2001 to provide inclusive and equitable quality lifelong learning opportunities.

• Hostels: Separate accommodations for boys and girls, with capacities of 52 and 100 beds respectively, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment

• Laboratories: Fully equipped labs for Botany, Chemistry, Geography, Computer Science, Physics, and Zoology, supporting practical sessions and research activities.

• Sports Facilities: Playgrounds and indoor facilities for football, cricket, volleyball, athletics, and more, promoting physical fitness and sportsmanship.

• Charan Narzary: Felicitation for success in the APSC Examination, 2018.

• Production Borgayari: Gold Medal Winner at the All India Inter-University Archery Championship 2021-22.

• Pritam Narzary: Achieved the highest score in English in Assam for H.S. Second Year (Science Stream) .
