

Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University (KSDSU), established on January 26, 1961, is a premier state university located in Darbhanga, Bihar. The university was founded with the vision of promoting Sanskrit and preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Mithila region. Maharaja Kameshwar Singh generously donated his ancestral Anand Bagh Palace to the Government of Bihar, which now serves as the university's headquarters.
Academic Programs:
KSDSU offers a comprehensive range of academic programs across various levels:
Undergraduate Courses: B.A. in Sanskrit, B.Ed, BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery), and B.A. in Fine Arts, among others.
Postgraduate Courses: M.A. in Sanskrit, Acharya (equivalent to M.A.), and specialized programs in Veda, Vyakarana, Sahitya, Dharmashastra, Jyotish, and Ayurveda.

Research and Manuscript Collection:
The university is renowned for its extensive collection of over 5,500 rare Sanskrit manuscripts, including six illustrated versions of the Ramayana, Gitagovinda, Srimad Bhagavata, and Durga Saptasati. Notably, it houses manuscripts penned by the Maithili poets Vidyapati and Mahesh Thakur in their unique scripts. Since 2003, KSDSU has operated as a Manuscript Resource Centre, documenting approximately 2,000 manuscripts from 49 institutions and 206 private collections across 13 districts in Bihar and Jharkhand.

Library: A vast collection of over 100,000 books, research papers, and Sanskrit journals.
Hostels: Separate accommodations for male and female students, including Panini Hostel, Yagyavalya Hostel, Vaschpati Hostel, and Ladies Hostel.

KSDSU is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is a member of the Association of Indian Universities. The university is also accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a 'B' grade.
Admission Process:
Admissions to various programs are based on merit and entrance examinations. For undergraduate courses, candidates must have completed their 10+2 education. Postgraduate admissions require a relevant undergraduate degree, and doctoral programs necessitate a master's degree in a related field. Specific entrance exams include NEET for BAMS and AIAPGET for MD courses.
