Bharathidasan University was established in 1982 and is named after the revolutionary Tamil poet Bharathidasan. It is located in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. This university is Re-Accredited with a Grade ‘A’ by NAAC. Bharathidasan University offers admission to undergraduate and postgraduate, and PG diplomas in various disciplines, such as  arts, languages, science, technology, engineering and management. Bharathidasan University was established in the year 1982 but the distance education centre was started in the year 1992. This was established due to the students who could not join the regular colleges for higher education. The university also gives training for certificate programmes.
