Sikkim Manipal University was established in the year 1995 and is a private university located in East Sikkim. SMU is recognized by the University Grants Commission under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956 vide letter No F. 9-7/96 (CPP-I) dated 9th Dec 1998 and approved by the Government of India.  It is the first-ever Public-Private Partnership in the country for higher Education and Health Care Services.

The University has two campuses: The Medical campus and the Technology campus. The university runs with an objective to support, promote and undertake the advancement of academics and to encourage research, creation, and dissemination of knowledge.

The university is now open for various courses at UG, PG, and research levels. Sikkim Manipal University runs with a mission to develop professionals of excellent technical caliber in the field of Health Sciences, Engineering, Management, and Social Sciences with a humane approach capable of shouldering the responsibility of building the nation and being globally competent. The specializations and eligibility criteria for every course and level differ from each other. For admission to some courses, the university conducts separate entrance tests, interviews, and group discussion rounds in order to evaluate the candidates, whereas admission is purely based on the merit of the candidates for other courses.

Below are the steps and procedures to be followed to apply for the courses mentioned above

• The college accepts the online method of application
• Candidates must initially visit the online official website of the college and get themselves registered 
• The website may send the candidates a verification code at the registered E-Mail ID or the mobile number
• After getting registered successfully, fill in the application form with all the relevant details
• Candidates need to keep ready scanned photo and signature to upload (.jpg format; maximum file size 200KB; 200 px x 200 px)
• After filing the application form, pay the application fee through the online method
• Once the application fee is submitted successfully, then the registration will be considered complete
• Sikkim Manipal University's fee structure is available on the official website of the college
